I enjoy walking while playing but I will not carry a bag. In my experience, golf bags eat golf shirts. So, I’m trying to decide between a stand bag or cart bag for golf carts or pull carts.
Dilbert – I didn’t say carrying my bag "tears" my shirts. Over time though, the back of the stand bag rubs the fabric in such a way that the shirt is effectively ruined. Maybe this only happens to me, I don’t know.

I have a stand bag, but always use a pull cart. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever carried my bag on the course in 5 or 6 years. I don’t have a problem with the pockets at all when strapping it to a pull cart. I just turn the bag sideways and strap it in that way, and have the less useful pockets facing the pull cart.
The main pockets that I need access to (extra balls, tees, water bottle) are now on the top, and It’s easy to get what I need.
When i decide to walk i enjoy my bag that stands. its convenient because you can leave it close to the tee at most golf courses. But be lazy get a cart lol
You will get a workout either way. But if you are looking for more of an exercise I would opt with the stand bag, due to the effort it takes to carry it, especially for an entire 18 holes. A cart bag is excellent if you have back problems. I have always used a stand bag, and refuse to take a cart.
If you absolutely refuse to carry a bag, get a cart bag. Cart bags are designed for carts and pull carts. The head of the bag is tilted toward the pockets, and there are no pockets on the back (where the strap is). That is so you don’t put stuff in pockets where it is difficult to get to from a pull cart or golf cart.
(I have never heard of stand bags tearing golf shirts. I carry my bag for the high school team 4 days a week and never have had any problems.)
i have a stand bag, but it was alot to carry, so i got a pull cart.
get a caddy that will fix your shirt problem.
I used to have a stand bag, but found that the legs interfered with the pull cart. Get a cart bag.
Get a bag that will work for both.
